The much-awaited Motorola budget smart phone, Moto G, has finally
arrived in India carrying a very competitive price tag of Rs.12,499 for the 8GB model and Rs.13,999 for the 16GB version.
Earlier, it was expected to be priced around Rs.15,000. But, the launch price has taken many by surprise as it's
way below the expectation. Ecommerce portal Flipkart has launched this Motorola
phone and currently the 16GB Moto G is out of the stock. Fresh stocks are
expected soon.
Its price and specs matching the hardware make is the hottest among the top smart phones. Motorola and Android are owned by Google. So, the Moto G is a rare phone carrying the Google tag both in terms of hardware and OS. For now it runs on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS but will get guaranteed update of the latest Android version 4.4 Kit Kat as its harware has been made to fit the latest Android version.
On the specs front, the pure Android phone comes with a 4.5-inch
screen with a 720P resolution and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor.
The phone also sports a 1 GB RAM. Its 5-MP primary camera offers crisp images
while its secondary camera is slotted at 1.3-MP.
Few weeks ago there was much excitement over reports of iPhone 4
relaunch in India for Rs.15,000 only. It proved wrong as the iPhone 4 slashed its price by
around Rs.4000, refusing to call it a
relaunch. It is now available for around Rs.22,000. Fresh reports suggest that Apple is set to start
manufacturing the iPhone 4 with an eye on the Rs.20000 price point.
Though iPhones are thought to be a prized possession in India,
being a three-year-old phone makes it a stale offering. The iPhone 4 comes with
a 512 MB RAM, a 3.5-inch display, 5-MP camera, 1 GHz Cortex-A8 and a modestly
powered 1,420 mAh battery?
The iPhone 4 may have a good hardware-software compatibility, so
for some, its RAM, display size and the 5-MP camera can't be a limitation.
Then, Moto G is a new entrant having Google back-up with a tantalizing price
tag. The Android phone loaded with the latest version certainly is a better
deal than the obsolete Apple iPhone 4. Here, pricing is a crucial factor as the
US tech giant plans to meet the competition in India by lowering the price.
Other latest iPhones like 5s and 5c are also selling well in India.
