Made
at a modest budget (by current standard) of Rs. 20 crore (includes restoration and adaption
to 3D technology), Sholay 3D made a decent collection of Rs. 6.3 crore over the weekend.
Arshad Warsi's Mr Joe B Carvalho, on the other hand, earned mere Rs. 2 crore.
While critics had panned Samir Tiwari's Mr Joe B Carvalho for the lack of proper script and good direction, Sholay, was a sure-shot bet at the ticket windows.
There was a large section of the audience that went for Sholay simply for the fun of watching the classic Bollywood film on the silver screen.
Sholay opened with Rs. 1.50 crore collections and further picked up on Saturday, collecting Rs. 2.25 crore. The 3D movie Arshad Warsi and Vijay Raaz were the lone crowd-attractions for Mr Joe B Carvalho.
