We know many people struggle with interviews. If one is not
able to crack an interview it does not mean that he or she is not good, it is
just that they lack certain strategies to follow during the interview. It is
not necessary to know every thing, if a candidate is able to answer the
questions in a way, which is acceptable, but not necessarily right, he can still
be successful in cracking the interview. There are certain things, which an
interviewer will be expecting from an interviewee: confidence, smiling face,
good dressing sense and body language and not to forget common sense. Following
the below written tips will help you crack any interview.
Instructions- Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things you will need:
Pleasing Smile
Curriculum Vitae
Documents of Education and previous employer
Identity Proofs
Decent briefcase
Pen and Paper or Notepad
Steps
Step One
Dressing etiquettes
Good dressing is a way to feel good and confident. The first
impression is 90% visual and 10% vocal. Looking good does not mean you have to
wear your wedding suit for an interview. Choose a decent suit either in gray shade
or black shade. Wear preferably cotton shirts so that it breathes and your
perspiration is absorbed. Check your shoes, tie and socks goes well with the
suit. Avoid flashy colours. Ladies can go for formal suits or skirts (below
knee), and stick to minimum make up and no heavy jewellery..
Step Two
Smile
Now you are dressed for interview look at yourself in the
mirror and “Smile”. Nervousness is natural; you need not worry about it. This
reduces by time but you can never eradicate it completely. When ever you smile
60% of your nervousness vanishes. Greet your interviewer with a pleasing smile
as you enter the interview room.
Step Three
Curriculum Vitae and Subject
Be thorough with your CV. whatever experience, projects and
hobbies you have mentioned in your CV should be on your fingertips and know the
analysis and result of the same. Many people are so nervous and worried about
getting a job that they forget to see their CV before the interview. Next
essential detail is about knowing your core subjects, because if it is a
technical interview then it becomes a compulsion to have in depth knowledge of
the subject. Good dressing will give a good first impression but if you want to
bag the job then the level of your knowledge will be the deciding factor.
Step Four
Practical Application
Once you have known the theory of the subject, you should
also know the practical application that is where and why you should apply it.
Here comes the test of your presence of mind and general awareness of growth of
the present industry standards. Also, know about the company where you are
going to give the interview. You should collect all the information about its
history, its core competencies, its market share, which will be readily
available at the company website and internet.
Step Five
Frequently Asked Questions
Prepare for certain questions, which are the delicacies of
an interview. Like the first question, “Tell me about your self”. What were
your roles and responsibilities at previous employer?
What are your strengths and weakness? Why should we consider
you and not the others for this job role? Answers for these questions can be
prepared prior to interview, as these are the common questions asked in most of
the interviews. Do not panic if your interviewers ask you something you have
never heard of or you do not know. You need not leap but take time to answer.
It is not wrong if you take a minute or so to come up with an answer, which may
or may not be correct. Interviewers look for response not accuracy.
Step Six
Mock Interview
You can ask your friend to take a mock interview, which will
help you to prepare and feel the experience of an interview. In addition, you
can improve on the standards of your answering by practising this.
Tips
Do not forget to carry all the important documents
required for interview.
Just be your self, you need not imitate someone to impress
your interviewer.
Warnings
Never do shabby things during interview, like shaking
legs, digging nose or biting nails.
Never listen to the rumours, spread by the candidates who
have finished the interview before you.
